The schools in Sri Lanka have had extended disruptions and closures due first to Covid, then to fuel shortages, and finally because of political unrest. The closures are affecting all children island wide, but we were most concerned with the boys at the Baranasuriya Home because a few were preparing to enter school and we feared they would fall further behind. C.O.L.O.R. decided to create and equip a classroom onsite so the boys could better prepare and familiarize themselves with classroom routines, expectations, and schoolwork. We also wanted to give them a bright and fun place to help break up the daily monotony of life in the home. The boys are enjoying their new classroom!
